Oura Crowns

When I was first learning about the Oura app, I thought the idea of getting a crown (see photo) was silly. After a few weeks, however, I like the idea of being able to see at a glance which days I am scoring well and in how many categories. In the photo, you can see that I have gotten more than one crown on the same day only three times. Yesterday, was one of those days and I got three crowns. It was a great day, truly. Not because of the crowns, of course, but because everything really did mesh. Getting all three took some work. Being able to track those kinds of days should come in handy. What I can’t figure out is...

which dot is for which crown?

I have looked across the internet and have not found an explanation.

My data shows that you can definitely get a Sleep crown without getting the other two crowns. In my data so far, if I only have one crown it is always the first dot and it is always for Sleep. When I got two it was for Sleep and Readiness. If I got a crown for Readiness, but not the other two, would the second dot be lit, but not the first and third? I don’t think so. It appears to me that you can not actually get a Readiness crown unless you first get a Sleep crown. Many of the components to the Readiness score are actually Sleep features, including the specific Sleep score. I think you might be able to get an Activity crown, even if you did not get a Sleep or Readiness crown. If so, would it be the third dot? I can’t tell from my data, because I have gotten an activity score of 85 or more only one time. I have exceeded my activity goal and still not gotten an Activity score of 85. This can happen when you do a good workout, but are inactive most of the rest of the day. It also happens because the Activity score is based on patterns of training frequency and volume across previous days, not just the day in view.

Today I got a Sleep crown and I should get an Activity crown by the end of the day, but I definitely did not get a Readiness crown today. Tomorrow we shall see how it plots.

Studying this issue led me to check out my Oura Cloud dashboard and trends. Data in the app and the Cloud do not match. I have manually synced several times in the last few weeks, including once today, and they simply do not match. Summary scores can be as much as 5 points different. I think the cloud dashboard is lagging behind the recent app updates. They may not be using the same algorithms anymore. Guess I will keep an eye on it.
